Attentiom Retirees

Due to rising costs with the State and National FOP's that directly affect us, we have no choice but to raise the active retiree's dues to $60.00 per year or, put another way, $5.00 per month. This is still in effect as of January, 2020. Thank you in advance for understanding and help in this matter.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING DUES & INSURANCE

Dear Brother / Sister,

This is Retired Detective Frank Ferrara and I am writing this letter to inform you of the separation of dues and insurance. The cutoff date for dues and insurance was changed along with the new PO Box location to send Insurance check. I have been working with the FOP retirees since December of 2014 and initially it was for the retiree’s dues. During this transition from Joe Roselle to me I was only to take care of the dues, and as you are aware, I got the insurance portion which was originally handled by another person other than Joe. To make matters worse it was a onetime open enrollment, so we got 4 times the normal enrollment for insurance. This job became full time as I have members sending in dues even up to 3 weeks ago. We had a cutoff date of March 1st, 2018 for dues and insurance. As with all insurance companies you cannot give a check way past the cutoff date. We were more flexible to the dues but soon found out that there were over 90 members of 515 that did not pay and after sending out a letter to collect for dues most responded and now we are down to 35 for nonpayment. Until we take the member off our list for the State and National, they still charge our Lodge until the name is officially taken off. The 35 cost us over $2,000 which we should not have to pay. So here go the changes: The cutoff date was changed to January 31st, 2020 mainly for the insurance company. It also helps the Lodge as I said above allowing time to take off member before the next per capita fee which is assessed in late March. The dues and insurance split will have as before 2 different Post Office boxes.

DUES: The retiree dues are still $60.00 in check made out to FOP Lodge 4. The cutoff date is January 31st, 2020. Please send you dues check as soon as possible. As per FOP Lodge the deadline will be strictly enforced, and I do not have any control over this.
PLEASE SEND DUES CHECKS ONLY TO:

FOP LODGE 4
PO BOX 239
RAMSEY, N.J. 07446

Please note my new email address for dues only:

jcfop4retirees@aol.com

Please email me and make sure you put in who you are, current address, and your contact phone number. Your name is important as you email address may not reflect your name. Please no more emails to the franklferrara email.

INSURANCE: The trustees will be taking this over and the contact person will be Joe Manna. His email is Manna2788@gmail.com. The insurance is still $60.00 in check made out to FOP Lodge 4. The cutoff date is also January 31st, 2020. Your cancelled check is your receipt of insurance. After this letter you will be contacted by the trustees directly for future payments.

THE NEW POST OFFICE BOX FOR THE INSURANCE ONLY WILL BE:

FOP LODGE 4
PO BOX 3872
JERSEY CITY, N.J. 07302

PLEASE SEND CHECKS OUT BEFORE THE JANUARY 31st, 2020 DEADLINE OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE INSURANCE.

Note: You may receive a card in the mail for insurance via the State or National FOP for a free $5,000 policy. This has nothing to do with our insurance. Their insurance allows for an insurance agent to come to the home to sell additional insurance.

REGULAR F.O.P. Meetings are the first Thursday of the month at Liberty Prime, 111 Montgomery St., with free parking in adjacent building.

Thank you!
Frank
